Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators: World on Fire

Artist: Slash
Genre: Rock
Label: Dyk Hayd

What does a classic rock guitarist do if they don't have a reasonable or halfway respectable "rock" voice? They do what Slash (formerly of Guns N' Roses, just in case you've arrived late) had to do: enlist the services of a much admired rock singer in the form of Myles Kennedy. Using Kennedy as something of a vocal focal point may be a smart move, but it can never (and I mean never) disguise the fact that the star of the show is, and will always be, Slash. So what we have here is little more than a surround-sound showcase for guitar solos, and lots of them. Which means that by song No 4 (Wicked Stone – and there are 13 tracks to go), you know the drill: bog-standard riffs and vocals will always (and I mean always) be pushed aside for guitar solos. Lots of them.
