The time has come to announce our summer crush. As you all know, crushes are unpredictable, a little bit juvenile, and total bliss. So it is with The Summer: thrashy chords, harmonies straight out of a TY talent show, and a subject explained in the two-word title. It's a homage to The Beach Boys. Blast at will from cars on hot days.

Hero of the week is, as always, Kesha. She shared an update on her Instagram page. "I have been battling depression and an eating disorder for a while now. My career is in a strange place and it feels like I'm fighting an uphill fight some days, but I have decided to take my life back. My freedom. My happiness. My voice. My worth. I will not just f**king be quiet and hide. Today I will say f**k it and live." She went on: "I'M HAPPY AS A DAMN CLAM. And also a big ol' f**k u if u wanna hate on my body."

News of the week: Lady Gaga will play Cilla Black in a movie. Yep, in a movie biopic of Dionne Warwick (who will be played by LeToya, formerly of Destiny's Child, do keep up), Gaga's gonna play Cilla. Context: Cilla's version of Burt Bacharach's Anyone Who Had a Heart was more successful than Warwick's in 1964. The biopic was confirmed at the Cannes Film Festival last week. So, there's that to look forward to.

Zero of the week is Nicole Scherzinger, according to musical theatre fans. Scherzy was supposed to play Grizabella in Cats on Broadway, but pulled out in favour of The X Factor.  "I had every intention of doing Cats on Broadway, but the contract was never finalised," she told Radio Times. "I am incredibly blessed to be given so many amazing opportunities, including Cats, but unfortunately we weren't able to make it work this time around."
