The island in question is Ibiza, where the producer formerly known as Future Loop Foundation has called home for the past couple of years.

It’s clear that the more laid-back and chilled-out side of the island, as opposed to the hedonism that makes all the mainstream headlines, has had a huge effect on Barrott’s mindset when it comes to making music.

Sketches from an Island 2 is covered in Balearic glad tidings, a record full of dappled golden touches, blissful sunset vibes and chilled soft-focus haze.

The tracks are simple and unadorned. Throughout, Barrott’s musical moodboards are full of reminders from the natural and ecological landscapes that surround him on the island and put the case that these, as much as anything else, are worth pondering about.
