This Danish five-piece are part of that new generation of European jazz groups who are born in the rehearsal room and grow a band sound from the ground up.

For Girls in Airports, the result has been the gradual evolution of a unique, cinematic sound, a rough-hewn Danish vessel that holds a diversity of influences, from North African folk to ambient noise.

Saxophonist Martin Stender’s tunes are like seeds, planted in the minds of his fellow musicians, that spring up into waving forests of beats and ambient landscapes of harmony, occasionally giving way to more focused soloing from Stender and fellow saxophonist Lars Greve.

If Fables doesn't reach a wider audience as the theme music for the next arthouse cinema hit, there's just no justice in this world.
