Ten years ago, Baton Rouge classmates Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer joined forces in a band called The Eames Era, which later dissolved to make way for Generationals (so named after the 2008 presidential campaign between Barack Obama and John McCain). Heza , their third album, makes up for the general lack of spark on the 2009 debut ( Con Law ) and the 2011 follow-up ( Actor-Caster ). here be tunes that whizz off the page, sweet and sour in equal measure, and invested with a kind of pop nous that caters to fans of shimmering dance/ electronica as well as bracing indie. The music breathes, too; tracks Put a Light On, Say When, Spinoza and You Got Me know the difference between a push and a pull, between laying it on thick and delivering multi-layered textures. I believe the word is "sweet".
