Best known for her work with Dirty Projectors, Angel Deradoorian's yen and talent for collaborations have seen her feature with a long, diverse line of artists from Animal Collective's Dave Portner to Flying Lotus, the Roots, U2 and Charli XCX.
For her debut solo album, Deradoorian heads for the far side, with a set of psychedelically enhanced art-pop.
The singer is also never afraid to wildly experiment and it makes for a fascinating soundbed of Middle Eastern tinges, Krautrock drones, folk idioms drawn from Deradoorian’s Armenian background, classical minimalism and wonky electronica.
The songs are colourful and weird as a result, making A Beautiful Woman and Komodo spirited and infectious. Her A-list collaborators will have to up their game after this. facebook.com/deradoorian
