A 12-year-old Irish busker has described her experience of performing on The Ellen Show in the US as "amazing".

Allie Sherlock from Douglas in Cork spoke to host Ellen DeGeneres after singing Adele's hit A Million Years Ago.

DeGeneres introduced the musician by saying: "When I saw a video of our next guest singing on the streets of Dublin I knew I had to meet her. From Cork, Ireland, please welcome 12-year-old Allie Sherlock."

The show averages at almost three million viewers per episode.

Allie told The Ray D'Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 the popular host helped her get past her nerves before her appearance.

“That was pretty amazing because I absolutely love her show and she was just so nice and friendly, and I was really nervous and during the break she was saying me to calm down and she was just so nice about it which made everything much easier,” she says.

“She gave me a guitar case with lights with light up words saying TIPS.”

She also met rapper and producer Pharrell Williams while she was on the show.

Allie was invited to Los Angeles by American singer and producer Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic after he saw one of her videos on Instagram.

A video Allie posted on her Facebook of her busking on Grafton Street singing Ed Sheeran's "Supermarket Flowers" went viral in June last year.

Allie said she was not entirely sure what her future career would be just yet.

“I’m not quite sure yet because I’m so young. But I would like to be a singer. I absolutely love singing, it’s just something that I have always loved,” she says.
