Alt-J, Pixies, James Vincent McMorrow, Bell XI at Trinity: Everything you need to know

For the first time ever, Trinity College Dublin is hosting the Trinity Summer Series, a number of outdoor gigs that non-Trinity students can attend. Unlike the university's summer ball, black tie is not necessary and please, for the love of god, do not sellotape a naggin to your inner thigh. This is a classy affair.

The Summer Series sees Gregory Porter, James Vincent McMorrow, Bell XI, Pixies, Two Door Cinema Club and Alt-J take over the cricket grounds of the city centre campus, replacing the droves of people who normally gather there on summer evenings with a lovely bag of cans. I mean, cans bought from The Pav. That's right. Lovely cans bought from The Pav.

Running from Thursday, July 6th until Tuesday, July 11th, each show also has some quality supporting acts, who most would hand over good money to see by themselves. Here is the line up for the coming week:

Are tickets still available? Tickets are available for all gigs except for Monday night's sold out Alt-J show, with prices starting from €44.

What time does it kick off at? Gates open at 7pm and guests are asked not to queue outside beforehand. Support acts are expected onstage at 8pm and the headliners at 9pm. These times are subject to change.

How do I get there? Gig goers are to make their way to Trinity College Park via Lincoln Gate and Science Gallery Gate. There is no access via the front archway or Nassau Street.

As Trinity College is slap bang in the middle of the city centre, guests are strongly advised to use public transport or to walk. The majority of Dublin Bus routes have stops near the campus, with Westmoreland Street, Dame Street, Pearse Street and Nassau Street acting as main hubs for a number of routes. The closest Dart station is Pearse Street, which is a short stroll to the concert entrance, and both Luas lines are approximately a five-minute walk, either from Abbey Street or Stephen’s Green.

What will the weather be like?

According to yr.no, Thursday will be 21 degrees, with a hint of sunshine and Friday will drop to 19 degrees with some light rain forecast. Saturday will have clear skies and 16 degrees. Sunday and Monday evening will be approximately 16 degrees and Tuesday evening, the last gig of the series, will be 17 degrees and sunny.

Security

Guests will be searched upon entry and everyone is advised to allow extra time to get through security checks. Organisers ask that you bring as little as possible with you, to speed up the entry process and only A4 size bags or smaller are permitted. There will be no cloakroom at the venue.
