LCD Soundsystem

Musician and producer James Murphy has already handed over this year’s new LCD Soundsystem album, but now it’s time for something completely different via original soundtrack work for this new film, which stars Ben Stiller searching for

a meaningful life. No such concerns about Murphy's accompanying music, which is crystal-clear in its sweep of influences and inspirations. Overall, tracks such as People, Sleepy Baby, Photographsand Birthday Songsuccessfully reference the ambient nature of Brian Eno (his album, Another Green World, is clearly a touchstone). Other items of incidental music ( If You Need a Friend, Please Don't Follow Me) forge a sonic hybrid of bland electronica and ambient noodlings. A new LCD track ( Oh You Christmas Blues) seems little more than a ragged and raucous Abbey Road outtake. See seegreenberg.com
