For Factory Floor, it’s a case of less really is more. Now a duo following the departure of Dominic Butler between album releases, Nik Void and Gabe Gurnsey are following more minimalist and pared-down lines here than was the case the last time around.

It’s a look which suits them, as the dark, nocturnal and hypnotic grooves created to pass muster in Factory Floor’s current late-night clubland environment show. Void and Gurnsey have also locked in on an unrelenting thumping pulse as their soundtrack, which means they’ve largely dispensed with the shadows and feints which previously passed for vocals.

Driving, mesmerising tracks like “Ya” and “Dial Me In” are testament to the success of the new process, though there are times when the pair seem to allowing grooves, loops and rhythms to keep going to the detriment of any cohesion or coherence.
