Aircraft of Tomorrow - Alas Euphoric review: tender and unique tone poems

You can instantly tell from the album title that there are going to be contrasts. The telltale positioning of woe and joy is a sign that Dublin-based electronica/multimedia duo Aircraft of Tomorrow (designer Alastair Keady, musician Paul Woodfull) have an interesting story to tell.

With an audiovisual premise best experienced via their website (videos, which the duo say are “motion pieces informed by a graphic design vocabulary”, are scheduled for release between now and December), it’s up to the music to provide clues. An experienced musician, Woodfull instinctively rises to the task by processing intensely felt sentiments via instrumental music that ebbs and flows accordingly.
