Larry Cummins from Sutton got in touch about a hike in the price of DART timetables. Last year Irish Rail charged 60 cent for them, but this year it has doubled the price to €1.20. Irish Rail says the timetables were 50p for the 10 years before the introduction of the euro. It then rounded the converted price down, from 63.5 to 60 cent. The company says it realises it should have increased prices gradually over the years, to stay in line with increasing printing costs, but to make up the gap it had to increase the price significantly this year. Irish Rail also says that the price only offsets the printing costs and that it makes no profit from the timetables.
