Probably not affiliated with the South American tourism board, Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel is a sequel to the 2008 shooter. The gaming world has made big leaps in evolution since then, but this franchise hasn't. Just like last time, this is a co-operative third-person shooter more concerned with machismo, headshots and gore than wimpy story or haughty character development. This time the team are working south of the Border, taking on a drug cartel and corrupt public officials. There's precious little exposition, though; that would only get in the way of the endless shootouts. The co-op game- play works well (whether you're playing with an AI colleague or a human one), as you protect one another to flank and gang up against opponents. It's a little generic and. in this late stage of consoles cycles, the combat and graphics could be more sophisticated. But overall it's fun, forceful and unpretentious.
