Cheryl’s in Love, Kylie goes quiet

As ever, the place is crawling with celebrities. We spotted Jane Fonda, Roman Polanski and Tom Hardy in the same day. But the oddest celebrity appearance has to be that by Cheryl Cole. The Tyneside singer turned up in a nice dress at – of all things – the premiere of Michael Haneke’s grueling Love.

We don’t want to make any unfair assumptions about the Geordie girl. Maybe she does enjoy austere Austro-French dramas about dying old people. But it does seem a little bit strange.

One of the more educative celebrity press conferences was the one for Holy Motors. Kylie Minogue was presumed to be the star of the show, but it soon transpired that many European journalists barely knew who she was. The small star was asked only a handful of questions. It’s a cruel game.
