WOODWARDS in Cork opens its autumn season of sales next Wednesday with an auction in the firm's rooms on Cook Street, starting at 10.30 am. Among more than 500 lots are plenty of furniture, such as Victorian mahogany dining tables and chairs, a Georgian peat bucket, an inlaid rolltop writing table, a Georgian lyre armchair, together with serving tables, sideboards, display cabinets and a 230 piece Masons Ironstone dinner service.

Over 100 lots of silver and plate include pieces from Cork and Dublin silversmiths, and the large selection of paintings takes in work by well known artists such as Frank Egginton and Norman McCraig.
