Beatrice’s Trip Across the Galaxy

An extract from a story by 6th class, Scoil Bhríde, Clane, Co Kildare

Beatrice shuffled outside, her shoulders slumped, because she was kicked out of the house for wanting to be the first alien to fish on the moon.

“If you want to do stupid things like that, move to Earth because us Martians are too busy making Mars Bars from pure stardust in the Milkyway!” exclaimed her mother. Her mother slammed the front door in Beatrice’s face – it almost popped her three eyes into the back of her head.

Out of nowhere, she heard a familiar stomp followed by the click-clack of high heels. When she spun around, she saw her friend, Belinda the Beluga Whale.

“Hi,” Beatrice sniffled.

“OMG! Have you heard the news! The sun is going to explode and worms are going to take over the world!” gossiped Belinda. “The only way to save the world is to sacrifice your choker.”

“But the only choker I have is our Super Special Limited Friendship Clare’s Choker that has been discontinued across the galaxy...”

Beatrice and Belinda had to come up with a plan. They decided the only way to get to the sun would be to fish their way across the Milkyway, all the way around the moon, and pass by the Hopping Worm Lake.

Only then would they be able to sacrifice the Super Special Limited Friendship Clare’s Choker that had been discontinued across the galaxy to save the world from the worms.

Beatrice shuddered at the thought of worms. Suddenly, there were screams coming from the direction of her house...
