Because of its geographical position, Donegal often seems to be in a world of its own, weather-wise, so it was an ideal site for an arts/science residency project that set out to examine “on the ground, how climate change and its variables may affect” the county. And how the arts might contribute to an understanding of same.

The fruits of the residencies, involving Antony Lyons (Ireland), Seema Goel (Canada), Softday (Ireland/ Germany), Peter d’Agostino (US) and The League of Imaginary Scientists (US, above) are on show in Letterkenny. The various endeavours include explorations of microscopic evidence in boglands, a comparison of Earth and Mars, local economic impact, and the translation of weather and climate data into musical compositions. There’s humour, but also an underlying serious intent and real issues.
