A member of the Irish Defence Forces has appeared at a special sitting of Cork District Court charged in connection with the seizure of upwards of €25,000 of cocaine at Collins Barracks on Old Youghal Road in the city.
Shane Scanlon of Cooline Heights, Ballyvoloon, Cobh, Co Cork is charged with two offences.
Mr Scanlon (34) is charged with possession of a controlled drug, namely cocaine, at Old Youghal Road in Cork for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying it to another on March 27th.
Mr Scanlon is also charged with having cocaine unlawfully in his possession at Old Youghal Road on March 27th. The alleged offences are contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Evidence of arrest charge and caution was given by Garda Derry O’Brien from Anglesea Street Garda station. The short hearing took place on Thursday evening.
Judge John King remanded Mr Scanlon on bail until his next appearance before the court on July 15th.
