Gardaí investigating the violent death of a man in an assault in Dublin in 2022 have arrested a suspect for questioning. The man being held by gardaí on Tuesday night is being questioned about the killing of Adnan Asic who was from Bosnia and had lived in Ireland for over 30 years.
Mr Asic (60) was attacked in the early hours of Saturday, October 22nd, 2022, as he was walking home after a night out socialising in west Dublin.
A single man who was regarded as vulnerable, he was walking towards Blanchardstown Road North from Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Dublin, just after 2.30am when he was “violently assaulted”. He later died from his injuries.
On Tuesday gardaí confirmed they have arrested a man in connection with Mr Asic’s death, which is being investigated as murder.

The suspect was being held in a Garda station in north Dublin under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, allowing for him to be questioned for up to 24 hours without charge.
Though the killing took place more than two years ago, gardaí have now reissued their appeal to members of the public to aid the murder investigation being carried out by gardaí in Blanchardstown.
Gardaí are especially keen to hear from anyone “who saw two men together at the junction of Blanchardstown Road North and the Old Navan Road” in Mulhuddart, Dublin 15 around the time of the fatal assault or anyone recording dashcam footage in the area.
Sources said Mr Asic was “very severely beaten” in what was described as an extreme attack. The victim was described at the time as a very quiet man who was not known to gardaí.
He had been out socialising with at least one friend on Friday night into Saturday morning and was walking home when he was assaulted. Gardaí in Blanchardstown investigating his death gathered CCTV from the area around the busy junction where Mr Asic was found.
The victim was discovered at the junction of Navan Road and Blanchardstown Road North and the emergency services were alerted at about 2.50am. However, while Mr Asic was treated at the scene by paramedics before being take to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, he was pronounced dead at the hospital early on Saturday morning.
