Two charged with murder of man in Co Down

Woman (33) and man (36) are due in court on Monday after Mark Dorrian was found with head injuries in Newtownards and later died

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, who launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Newtownards, have named the deceased as 50-year-old Mark Dorrian.

A man and woman have been charged with the murder of Mark Dorrian (50) in Newtownards, Co Down.

Mr Dorrian died in hospital after he was found unconscious with head injuries at a property in the West Street area of the Co Down town early on St Stephen’s Day.

The woman (33) and man (36) are due to appear before a district judge at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with murder.

Police said on Saturday a woman (58) who had also been arrested in relation to Mr Dorrian’s death has been released unconditionally. – PA
