With the publication of the logo of the Press Council of Ireland and the Office of the Press Ombudsman on its website, The Irish Times indicates to readers that it is a fully participating member of the Press Council and supports it and the Office of the Press Ombudsman.

Established in 2007, they constitute an independent body offering readers a prompt, fair and free method of dealing with complaints that they may have in relation to published articles. The objectives also include maintaining high journalistic standards and ethics and defending the freedom of the press and the public’s entitlement to be informed.

The complaints system is governed by the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland. Copies of the Code of Practice are available from the Office of the Press Ombudsman, 3 Westland Square, Pearse Street, Dublin, D02 N567, and at pressombudsman.ie
