A CO Fermanagh company is to invest £2 million sterling to set up an operation in Newry making specialist labels and packaging for customers in Europe and the Middle East.

Webtech, a subsidiary of the Dublin based Americk Group, makes flexible packaging and stretch sleeve labels at its plant in Enniskillen, where a £1.8 million expansion was announced last October, creating more than 20 jobs.

The Newry operation, which will be based in a purpose built factory on the Carnbane Industrial Estate, is expected to result in the creation of 30 jobs over the next three years. Its output will include pressure sensitive labels, paper polyester coverings for yoghurt tubs, as well as soup pouches and shrink sleeve labels. It is being supported by a grant of £480,000 from the IDB.

Its managing director, Mr Joseph Doran, said the introduction of a pressure sensitive labelling facility would complete the company's product portfolio.
