Your Android phone to become a satnav

UPGRADE:IF YOU are one of the growing number of people with a mobile phone running Google's Android operating system, make sure you upgrade Google Maps which now features navigation.

Google Maps Navigation (Beta) is a satnav system for Britain and Ireland that provides turn-by-turn voice guidance as a free feature of Google Maps for phones running Android 1.6 and above. Features include search by voice to find your destination, the most recent maps, businesses and live traffic from Google Maps and street- level and satellite views.

Government requests to Google

BOOKMARK:AS THE largest gatherer of information on our web habits, Google gets a lot of criticism over its privacy policies. It's easy though to forget that the internet giant does more than most to champion the notion of internet privacy.

Its latest initiative, Government Requests, is an interactive map showing requests from national governments for information or to remove data from its servers.
