Germany's Volkswagen AG yesterday won the fight for the Rolls-Royce after winning overwhelming backing for its £430 million bid, despite a last-ditch attempt by small investors to keep it British.
The loser in the bid battle, BMW, said it would cancel its motor supply contract with Rolls, and added that ownership of Rolls was "no longer an issue".
