Aircraft parts supplier to open European base in Republic

Aircraft parts supplier Jetpower plans to create 25 jobs at a new European distribution base in Shannon.

US-based Jetpower supplies aircraft engine and mainframe components to customers around the world. The company plans to open a European base in the Shannon free zone business park in Co Clare.

Aaron Neff, Jetpower's chief executive, said the company was starting with four workers this year. "We plan to build this to 25 employees by the end of 2019."

A statement said that Jetpower’s move would allow it to extend the services that it already provided to a range of Irish-based aircraft lessors and to continue growing its European business.

State-owned Shannon Commercial Properties helped Jetpower to secure a 2,300sq m premises in the fee zone. Ray O’Driscoll, the property company’s managing director, pointed out that aircraft materials companies were growing significantly.

Michele Viani, Jetpower's head of business development, said the company was pleased to open a base in Shannon's aviation cluster. "Many of our leasing customers are located in Ireland, and our new Shannon location amplifies the services and solutions that we can offer to them."
