Irish workers are set for a 1.4 per cent pay boost next year, according to management consultants Hay Group Ireland.

The local subsidiary of the global firm says data shows that employers are committed to increasing what they pay staff in 2015.

Hay Group is predicting that workers here will receive average pay increases of 1.4 per cent next year, which will translate into a real boost of 1.1 per cent once inflation is taken into account.

Tom Walsh, the firm's Irish managing consultant, said that pay has been stagnant here over the last five years.

“However, over the last two quarters our data shows moderate pay raises occurring and we are now seeing employers committed to increasing pay in the coming year,” he said.

“While a 1.1 per cent increase in real terms may not seem a significant increase, it does signify a change in attitude towards pay.”

The report shows salaries are also set to make modest ground in the Republic’s two key trading partners, Britain, where pay is likely to go up 0.8 per cent in real terms, and the US, where workers can look forward to taking home 1 per cent extra.
