Listed ferry operator Irish Continental Group has appointed Goodbody Stockbrokers as joint broker to the firm alongside Investec, which took up the role following its acquisition of NCB Stockbrokers in 2012.

NCB had been house broker to ICG for many years before its deal with Investec. Goodbody is no stranger to ICG having advised the Aella consortium led by the ferry firm's chief executive Eamonn Rothwell that bid unsuccessfully for the business in 2007.

Aella went had-to-head with the Philip Lynch-led Moonduster consortium to acquire ICG but neither offer was successful by the time of the financial crash in 2008. NCB advised ICG’s independent directors during this takeover period.

ICG’s share price has risen by about 10 per cent this year.
