Delegates will explore the crucial issues affecting air traffic management

Dublin will welcome air navigation service providers from around the world for the global air traffic management summit and agm this week.

The theme of this year’s summit is “embracing the future” and delegates will explore the crucial issues affecting air traffic management. These will include how to utilise the emerging technologies for the advantage of the industry and how to defend against the misuse of advanced technology.

Keynote speeches will be made by Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary and David McMillan, chairman of the Flight Safety Foundation and former director general of Eurocontrol.

Tim Hynes, head of Information Technology at Microsoft, will look at the challenges of big data and future air traffic management technology.

Irish Aviation Authority chief executive Eamonn Brennan said crucial decisions would be made in Dublin today and tomorrow that will enhance the ways in which air traffic is managed around the world.

Elsewhere, the Cork & Kerry food forum is taking place this week, to support food start-ups and local producers.

Small businesses are the backbone of the economy and nowhere is this more evident than within the Irish food sector. A recent Ipsos MRBI poll found 42 per cent of the population were looking to support local food products.

The event will include a trade conference, which will be opened by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Simon Coveney, a “meet the buyers” session with retailers, tastings of local produce and cookery demonstrations by celebrity chef Kevin Dundon.
