Emirates to fly Dublin-Dubai daily as demand grows

Growing travel demand has prompted airline Emirates to extend its Dublin-Dubai service to once a day from October.

The Government began easing its harsh Covid-19 restrictions last month, sparking some increases in flights in and out of the Republic.

Emirates said on Thursday that it would increase its Dublin-Dubai flights to once a day from October from four a week currently.

Enda Corneille, the Gulf carrier's Ireland country manager, confirmed that it had seen "significant growth" in demand for flights in and out of Dublin since curbs eased on July 19th.

“During the early days of the pandemic we were operating just two flights a week from Dublin, growing to four on the back of demand for our cargo business,” he said.

Mr Corneille added that the airline hoped to restore its double-daily service from Dublin in coming months, "which, for us, will be a return to normal".

Emirates flights offer connections to destinations in Asia, Africa and the Pacific rim, but its country manager noted that Dubai itself was proving popular with travellers.

“Holiday-makers can get away without worrying about having to quarantine on return, which we believe is helping to drive recent demand,” said Mr Corneille.

Passengers arriving into the Republic do not have to quarantine if they have proof of vaccination or of a negative PCR test result taken within the previous three days, or they can get tested after they arrive.
