Delta Airlines to boost seats on Dublin flights

US airline Delta plans to boost the number of seats on aircraft flying to the Republic by 2,600 a-week this summer.

Delta will restart its summer Dublin-Atlanta services from Monday, March 28th, beginning with a Boeing 767-300 until April 4th and then an Airbus A330-300 from that date on.

Meanwhile, from next May it will begin using an A330-300 on its year-round Dublin-New York service increasing the number of seats available on that route.

Overall, the changes represent an overall capacity increase of almost 30 percent against last year, the company said in a statement.

Dwight James, Delta's Senior vice president, transatlantic, explained that the airline intends to use bigger craft during times when larger numbers of people want to fly.

“Last year was exceptional for US visitor numbers to Ireland and we are pleased to support inbound tourism in 2016 by increasing the number of seats available on our flights,” he said.

Dublin Airport became Europe’s fifth biggest transatlantic hub last year and hopes to increase its share of this market again in 2016.
