Cawley wings it to Prague to advise airports

There was a time when former Ryanair deputy chief executive Michael Cawley would have sat on the opposite side of the table to European airports, squeezing them for cheaper landing fees. Now, he's advising them.

The Corkonian, in his current capacity as chairman of the State tourism body Fáilte Ireland, is due to give a keynote speech next month at the annual congress of the Airports Council International Europe branch.

Cawley, according to the aviation website anna.aero, will advise the airport-running delegates on what to do to boost tourism traffic. Signing up Ryanair is one option.

The conference will take place in Prague, so at least Cawley will be able to get there on a flight with his old buddies. Also on the aircraft will be David O’Brien, Ryanair’s chief commercial officer and one of the two men appointed to replace Cawley more than a year ago.
