Weblog: Enhance your cinema experience with Cinime

Cinime is a new app that uses your smartphone for a better movie-going experience. One of the most useful functions is the movie trailers tab, listed by what’s playing near you. IMDB does this too, listing movies by location, but what it doesn’t have is Cinime’s movie poster scanner. This does what it says on the tin: hold the app up to a poster and it brings you to the trailer and a plot description. I tried it on several posters including Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck and it works well.

The second part of Cinime involves augmented reality: in conjunction with Wide Eye Media, it lets users interact with pre-roll games and competitions while they’re waiting for the movie to start. Beat The Intro, for example, gets you to guess movie soundtracks using your phone.
