Web Log: May the apps be with you

Today is the big day. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is here. If you haven't done so already, customise Google settings with 'Choose Your Side' and you don't have to think too hard because one click and it's possible to come back from the dark side. The best bit is the loading bar, which is replaced by a lightsaber. Google Cardboard is a great budget VR experience and Jakku Spy is a fun implementation (but I'm a Star Wars fan so maybe I'm a little biased). This is a mini-game inside the Disney Star Wars app that is sadly not available to App Store customers in Ireland. Disney, please release this for all Star Wars fans: we deserve Jedi selfies, classic Star Wars quotes and TIE Fighter sound effects. In the meantime, social traffic app Waze has added the option to change its satnav voice to C-3PO. Turn right, you filthy furball!
