Viatel’s expansion continues with the company making its fifth acquisition in less than a year and a half.
The Irish telecoms group has bought Co Wicklow-headquartered broadband service provider Wifiber for an undisclosed sum.
While the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, post-acquisition the Viatel Group revenues are forecasted to exceed €65 million in 2022.
Wifiber has a strong position providing connectivity services to the events industry, working with the likes of the National Ploughing Championships, Bloom, the Aviva Stadium, Electric Picnic, Longitude and Body & Soul festivals. Business customers include The National Concert Hall, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, EastCoast FM, RTÉ and CRH.

Acquisition
Venture Legal Services acted for Viatel in the acquisition, with James Cahill from Montgomery Solicitors acting for WiFiber.
The Viatel group, which also includes Digiweb, provides connectivity, cloud and security solutions to businesses and has its own data centre facility in Blanchardstown, Dublin. It employs 160 people.
The latest deal follows hot on the heels of the acquisition of Limerick-based software group ActionPoint last month. Other deals the company has made, includes ones for Nova Telecom, Ripplecom and Irish Telecom.
