Tech tools: Nintendo Classic mini NES news

The updated version will hook up to your high-definition TV, good for classic games

Classic gaming fans prepare yourselves: Nintendo is launching a mini version of the NES in November. The classic games system has been recreated in a smaller form – it can sit in the palm of your hand – and comes with 30 games built in, including The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong and Pac-Man. The updated version will hook up to your high-definition TV, giving the classic games a whole new lease of life.

It doesn’t look likely that Nintendo will add any more games for the system, but those virtual console games you bought for the Wii or Wii U will also work on the the Classic Mini NES, and you can hook up the Wii controllers to the system to play the games. We haven’t seen any euro pricing yet, but it will be £50 (€59) in the UK and $60 in the US, so that gives a fair hint.
