It may sound like a tech-inspired fashion accessory but the iRing is less high fashion and more of a creative add on.
Made by IK Multimedia, the device is a hands-free music controller for the iPad and iPhone. It consists of two plastic “rings” worn on both hands that work with the front-facing camera on iOS devices to translate your gestures into controls on screen. Wave one hand at the screen to add a new effect, wave the other to control pitch. It’s more for music creation, used with specific apps such as DJRig, but IK Multimedia has an SDK for developers that could allow them to build other apps that use the controller.
So who knows where it could be used next?
