Sony Cybershot HX9V

These days, cameras can do almost everything. Due to hit the shops in April, the Sony Cybershot HX9V does everything from normal still shots to 3D, and even includes location data for your shots.

The camera has a 16x optical zoom and the ability to shoot full HD movie footage at the touch of a button. It also has Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation, which includes an “active mode” that will help reduce handshake, even if you are walking and shooting at the same time. It will probably help too with those sweeping panorama images you can create with the camera. Despite all the features, the HX9V remains small and light, proving bigger doesn’t always mean better.

Moshi Moshi Office Phone €58

Smartphone makers have spent years trying to design the perfect handset, sleek enough to please the image conscious, easy to use and above all, wireless. And what does Native Union do? Come up with a “traditional” handset that is designed to work with your mobile.

The Moshi Moshi Office Phone connects to your device through the 3.5mm headphone jack and looks just like a regular landline handset. The useful thing is that it can be used with any device that uses a 3.5mm socket for microphone and headphones, although some will require an adapter. You can also use it for Skype or other voice-over IP calls through your computer.

Sugru, from £7.50

There are many reasons to buy Sugru. The most important is that this small lump of what looks like modelling clay might be the most useful thing in which you’ve ever invested a few euro. Sugru can be used to repair, customise and even upgrade items. It arrives in small sealed packets and is malleable to the touch, allowing you to mould it into almost anything you need. After half an hour in the air, it becomes a durable flexible silicone. It is waterproof, resistant to heat and cold (within reason) and it will even survive the dishwasher.

You can use it to repair shoes or household items. You can customise anything – as long as Sugru sticks to it. If you can mould it, you can make it. Definitely worth the investment.
