Have you seen the new Oculus Rift headset? The consumer version has finally been unveiled, due to go on sale next year, along with the new Oculus Touch controllers.

While we can all get very excited about virtual reality – it’s the sci fi dream – Oculus Rift probably isn’t something that will appeal to everyone. The headset looks a bit cumbersome, but it’s light and relatively easy to put on.

On the inside you have a wide field of view and two OLED displays that create your immersive world. The Oculus Touch controllers will handle everything from button input to gestures like a thumbs up. And if you’d prefer a more traditional approach, it’s also compatible with the Xbox wireless controller. If it all goes to plan, it will, according to Oculus executives at least, revolutionise gaming.

We look forward to that.
