Microsoft Excel turns printed page into spreadsheet data

Web Log: Android feature allows you to snap images and convert them into spreadsheets

When is the last time you got excited about Microsoft Excel? Prepare to whoop because this new feature for Excel on Android is useful and time-saving: you can snap images of data tables and convert them into spreadsheets.

No, come back, it’s really awesome! Microsoft’s image recognition tech allows Android users to take pictures of tables in textbooks, for example, which it then converts into usable Excel spreadsheets, something students might appreciate instead of having to manually input data into Excel from a static image.

So no more inserting screenshots or images into your project when you now have real Excel data that can be manipulated, analysed or turned into charts or graphs.

Microsoft announced this new feature at its Ignite event last September and it is available now in the latest update on Android, coming soon to iOS.
