Make your Instagrampics Matter

Last night's dinner, baby in cute outfit, cat falling off seat, pouting selfie, the list goes on … Instagram can be so mundane. So why not spice up your pictures with some otherworldly three-dimensional objects reminiscent of futuristic architecture from Bladerunner or 2001: A Space Odyssey? Matter is the latest app from Pixate, a small company specialising in photo apps for iPhones and iPads. Use Matter to insert unusual 3D structures into landscape pics; the objects cast a shadow that can be manipulated for optimum realism and the app automatically calculates where the horizon is; should you drag the object below this it will "embed" itself into the ground. It takes a bit of work to get the desired effect, but it's worth it for the final result.
