Meet QT3, a lanky robot who has been abandoned by his human owners. After waiting years for his masters to return, he encounters a strange creature. Alien Jeff tells QT3 that his model of robot is being discontinued. The good news is that if he proves his humanity, he’ll be saved. According to Alien Jeff, “humanity isn’t about being human”, it’s in what you do. So the sci-fi Tin Man sets out to find his soul.

Doki-Doki Universe is a strange, big-hearted game that encourages players to think of the emotional consequences of every action. In every encounter you learn a little about your playing style and how it affects the characters. Because it's for younger players (primary school age, it seems), the gameplay is gentle and, at times, rudimentary.

Problems are solved by asking the right questions, exploring and experimenting. Explore planets (travelling on the back of a flying pig), meet strangers, help them in various ways, and unlock additional quests. The tasks can be as complicated as finding a lost sentient sushi, or as simple as blowing a kiss.

Doki-Doki Universe won't tax your dexterity – this is a calm, almost meditative game. Every planet's quest plays out like a little parable. There are strange little treats along the way, such as cute animated letters from characters you meet, mini-personality tests and opportunities to share your creations and experiences on (real) social networks.
