Datapac to add 15 jobs as it scoops €11m State contract

ICT firm Datapac said it will create 15 jobs after it was awarded a Government contract worth €11 million.

The two-year contract will lead to the creation of 10 jobs this year, with another five to follow over the following two years as Datapac adds to its sales, marketing and logistics roles.

Datapac, which offers technology solutions and services to businesses, said the contract to supply ICT consumables had the option of a one-year extension. The company said it would allow it to make further investments and grow its business. The contract was awarded through Office of Government Procurement, which is responsible for the public sector’s procurement arrangements for common goods and services.

The Irish firm, which was established in 1982, currently has offices in Dublin, Wexford and Belfast. It employs 170 people, and the jobs will be spread throughout the three locations.

"The award of this contract to Datapac, a wholly Irish owned SME, is a perfect example of an Irish SME successfully competing for government business," said Brian Hayes, Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform with special responsibility for the Office of Government Procurement. "We want to see more SMEs competing for larger State contracts - both at home and abroad. SMEs success at this level is key to securing a sustainable and durable recovery for Ireland. "
