INVESTORS who went shopping for Somerfield shares got a bargain, it emerged today when they began trading on the stock market.

Shares in Britain's fifth largest supermarket chain were floated at 145p sterling and within minutes were checking out at 161/2p. They closed the day on 159p a paper profit of 14p a share.
