US software firm Siebel Systems will shed 30-40 jobs at its Galway operation following the release this week of disappointing financial results.

The company, which employs more than 100 staff in Galway, has told IDA Ireland it will consult its Irish employees on the cuts from next week.

Earlier this week, Siebel said it would shed more than 1,100 jobs from a total workforce of 7,160 after posting a 61 per cent decline in second-quarter profits.
