Doncaster Rovers Football Club Ltd, the UK company owned by businessman Denis O’Brien, saw its accumulated losses increase slightly to £1.85 million during the year to the end of May 2012.

The abridged accounts, filed with the UK’s Companies House recently, show the company had a net liability at year’s end of £1.54 million.

However, the directors, who include Mr O’Brien, said the financial accounts could be filed as those of a going concern.

Among the factors cited was confirmation that Mr O’Brien would not seek repayment of £189,400 until the company is in a position to do so.

Mr O’Brien bought the company in 1998 for £4.3 million as part of a plan to move Doncaster Rovers football team to a new ground and redevelop the old stadium.

The team has since moved and the former stadium has been demolished but no development has as yet occurred.
