Cork gears up for European Technology Summit

More than 300 technology enthusiasts are expected to descend on Cork this Wednesday for the European Technology Summit.

The conference will discuss a number of hot tech topics, including social media in business, cloud and web security, big data and future trends for technology.

A technology exhibition will accompany the summit sessions, and provide the opportunity to showcase the latest trends and products currently being offered by the industry.

Summit speakers
Andrew O'Shaughnessy, chief executive of Newsweaver, Chris Roche, regional director of EMC's big data division, Trend Micro vice-president Rik Ferguson and Stephen Moffatt, head of smarter computing at IBM are among the speakers.

Amazon Web technical evangelist Ryan Shuttleworth will talk about how cloud is a game changer for businesses, and share his insights on how enterprises can exploit cloud technologies.

Rik Ferguson, global VP security research at Trend Micro, will discuss how cybercrime is big business, and can affect all businesses – not just large companies.

Mr Ferguson works closely with Europol, the FBI and police authorities in countries all over the world to bring down cybercriminals.
