The National Authority for Occupational Safety and Health has prosecuted the Galway-based contractor, Inchagoill, and security company K9 Securities following the death of a night watchman.

Judge Michael Connellan imposed fines totalling £4,250 (€5,396) saying the site where the fatality occurred should never have come into operations until the necessary health, safety and welfare arrangements were in place. The case was brought by the Health and Safety Authority following the death of an 18year-old night-watchman, Mr Liam Tyrell in November 1999.
