The winners of the Sharetrack 100 competition are employees of the Office of the Revenue Commissioners, Mr Colm Martin and Mr Joe Twomey. The pair split a total of £16,000 (€20,316) - the £15,000 first prize and the weekly prize of £1,000 - and each receives a year's free share dealing with AIB.
In week seven, the investment veterans' Tayto portfolio jumped to first from 11th place overall and maintained that position into the final week despite fierce competition.
They say they must consult with their wives before determining how to spend their winnings. No doubt some of the funds will make their way on to the stock market.
A second-place £5,000 cheque goes to Mr Seamus Parle from Wicklow for the performance of his End Cuban Blockade investment. Limerick accountant Mr Val McDermott's Evan's Team earns him £3,000 in third spot.
The student competition delivered some exciting results. Mr Neil Madden's long battle paid off with two cheques - the overall first prize of £2,000 and £100 for the final week. Former leader Ms Edel Conran is £1,000 richer thanks to the performance of Team 14395. Last week's number five, Ms Catriona Dwan, captures £750 with Catriona's Fancy in third place.
The final profits in this year's Sharetrack 100 were far lower than last year's.
Despite Tayto's victorious total of £1,963,469.13, the 1999 winning portfolio achieved a higher return. Mr Declan Magee's Harold finished at £2,188,646.16 and 10 other 1999 finalists breached £2 million.
