New SuperValu store to create 60 new jobs in Co Kildare

Wholesaler Musgrave also announces upgrade of Ballymun facility

SuperValu is to create 60 new jobs with a new 12,000 square foot store in Kilcock, Co Kildare.

The €7 million investment will be located in The Square and will be operated by local retailers Steven Nally and Edward Casey.

The market square site, where the new store is situated, was purchased from Kildare County Council as part of a major rejuvenation programme for Kilcock. The new store incorporates a 120 space car park.

Speaking at the opening, store owner Steven Nally said: “We are proud to be helping to boost the local Kildare economy with the creation of 60 new jobs. Together with our two other stores in the county, we now employ 170 people in Kildare.

Separately, wholesaler Musgrave MarketPlace has announced a €2.2 million upgrade of its Ballymun store, located off St. Margaret's Road.

The upgrade of the store will result in a 20 per cent increase in the size of the cash and carry area as well as a range of new speciality areas.

The revamped 75,000 square foot store, which employs 65 staff, will officially open in October.

Musgrave Wholesale Partners managing director Noel Keeley said: "a huge amount of planning and research" had gone into the development.
