New nursing home to create 140 jobs in Dublin

Ardmore Lodge will cater for 89 residents initially, with plans to extend later this year

A nursing home is set to create more than 140 jobs in north-west Dublin.

Ardmore Lodge will initially care for 89 residents, with plans for an extension later this year that will add capacity for an additional 40 people.

The facility will provide respite, short-term convalescent and long-term nursing care, and is located on the site of the former Ardmore Hotel on Finglas Road in Dublin.

"These 140 new jobs are part of our investment in a new state-of-the art nursing home that is badly needed in a part of Dublin that features a rapidly ageing local community," said Ardmore Care's managing director John Martin.

The plans were welcomed by Minister for Health Leo Varadkar, who officially opened the facility today. He described it as a "notable economic boost" to the surrounding community.

The new care home is part of the Ardmore Care Home Group collection, which also includes the Dalkey Lodge Nursing Home. The company is also planning an extensive refurbishment programme for Dalkey Lodge this year, and has plans to develop more than 500 high quality nursing home beds.
